Notts went to Wrexham on a run of 3 victories on the bounce without conceding a goal.

With Notts only 4 points off a play-off place Notts manager Steve Thompson kept with the 4-3-3 formation, which had done well in previous matches.

Notts made two changes to the starting line up that played well against Boston with Lee On the beach and Pipe missing out with slight knocks in came Weston and Somner.

Wrexham starting the brighter of the two teams in the opening minutes but with out creating any good chances.

Wrexham caused some danger on 12 minutes when Dudfield got caught trying to let the ball go out, has the ball came over Edwards cleared but it fell to Jones who shot.

On 20 minutes the Wrexham fans shouted for a penalty has the ball came over from a cross but the ref did not see anything.

McCann gave the ball away from a poor clearance but captain for the day hunt cleared the ball away.

Wrexham went close when a free kick came over to Llewellyn but his header hit the post and bar corner has Notts were hanging on.

Notts got their first corner on 35 minutes, Ross went over to take it but has the corner came over a free kick was awarded to Wrexham.

For a team what in there last 8 home matches have only drew 4 and lost 4 had the better of the play against a team which still had a chance of getting in the play-offs.

In a second half where Notts had to come more aggressive to win this game the Notts manager left the same 11 on the pitch to try and improve things.

Wrexham was the first team to cause problems but after some fine work on the wing Pilkington claimed the ball with no one challenging.

McEvilly raced through pass Somner shot but the Notts keeper left it has the ball just curled wide.

Llewellyn was the next to go close shooting wide but not testing the Notts keeper.

On 51 minutes Notts made a substitution with Parkinson going off and Weston and 1 minute later Notts made another substitution with Ross going off and Notts top scorer Lee coming off showing the Notts manager was going for the points and keeping Notts play-off chances alive.

Notts get their second corner with Weston taking this one but is cleared for a Notts throw.

Wrexham were next to make a substitution with Johnson on for Proctor and straight away they earn their first corner of the game, which came to nothing.

Wrexham were next to creating a chance when McEvilly shot but went wide who was also booked.

Wrexham were now pinning Notts back and a free kick was awarded to Wrexham on the edge of the box and up stepped McEvilly who shot over.

In a match of poor finishes Notts top scorer Jason Lee shot wide when he could of done better with 25 minutes left.

Wrexham earned there 2nd corner which when it came over caused panic in the Notts defence but also came to nothing.

On 68 minutes former Notts player Jeff Whitley let fly but with the Notts keeper beat the ball bounces back off the wood work to keep the score at 0-0.

Only one minute later Notts were again under pressure but a good punch from Pilkington cleared the ball.

Wrexham were again appealing for a penalty with a Wrexham defender was according to the fans pushed but has in the first half the ref did not see anything.

Notts made there last substitution with 20 minutes left with Dudfield going off being replaced by N`Toya.

The match was being controlled by Wrexham and went close again when Mackin went close but just cleared the cross bar with Notts at sixes and sevens.

The crowd was now sensing Wrexham would score and raised the atmosphere with Accrington winning Wrexham needed to score.

McEvilly was lucky not to see red with 13 minutes to go when he barged into the Notts keeper Pilkington but the ref just had a quiet word.

Notts were under pressure and Somner cleared another Wrexham corner with 11 minutes left.

Notts midfield player Smith was next to see a yellow card with 10 minutes left.
A fine cross by walker was almost touched in by N`Toya but just could not stretch out his foot enough.

Williams replaced Llewellyn. A corner again to Wrexham was again cleared by Notts but again lost the ball that gave away another Wrexham corner, which Lee cleared and was finished off from Somner.

Well in a match that Notts held out under pressure after pressure a brake away from smith found Walker who shot and was forced in by Spender for an own goal to give Notts a lead against the run of play.

Wrexham in the final minute had a chance has the ball fell to McEvilly he shot wide to the relief of the Notts players.

The final 3 minutes of added time seem to last forever but Notts held out and got the 3 points to leave the magpies 3 points off the play-offs
