YouPies - a fan's view of Notts County FC

Charlie Needs Time

After Ian ¨Charlie¨ McParland`s  8th defeat of the league campaign this season some fans are shouting for his head on internet message boards.

Well our answer at www.youpies.co.uk to them is please let him have more time.

Let’s look at some facts, When big Sam Allardyce came his first season was a disaster.

Sam became Notts manager on the 16th January 1997 and that season he had 21 league games left to keep Notts up.

It was 16 matches before Sam got his first win as manager of Notts County Football Club.

That season Sam only got 2 wins with 6 draws and 13 defeats. He also lost an FA Cup match to Villa and lost after extra time to Scunthorpe in the associated member’s cup.

Notts ended up finishing bottom of the table with just 33 points from their 46 games.

Did Notts sack him? No. Did the fans shout for his head? Not like they are doing now days.

Now let’s look at Charlie’s season so far.

Charlie’s been in charge for 14 league games this season including the Mansfield game which he only got appointed the manager the day before.

He has won 3 games with 3 draws and 8 defeats and also he has won 1 and lost 1 in the FA Cup.

Notts sit in 20th place at the time of writing this article with just 23 points from their 25 games so far this season.

Notts do need to look over their shoulders because we don’t want another season like 2005-06 one when it went down to the last game.

Charlie is bringing in new players and sending out players on loan to get them match fit.

It does not help him that Notts do not have a reserve team or even a youth team but that’s another story.

He needs the fans to stop getting on the players back and start cheering for them just look at when he first came, even if Notts went behind in those first 4 game we the fans would still get behind them and apart from the Stags game it worked.

The next 3 games after the Stags match we won the first 2 and drew the last one.

Then has normal the fans started to expect too much and a defeat at home to Macclesfield started the moaning again.

Instead of getting behind the team now fans boo them if we go a goal behind. This can not do much for a team that is low on confidence.

I have a video to show you what Aberpie a member on the message board has done for his course work but it puts it all into prospective.

We nearly did not have a football team to watch so just take a few minutes to watch this video http://www.youpies.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=635 and then lets start to be a part of a team again getting behind the lads on a Saturday, yes we are going to get some poor players but we are a team near the bottom of the football league we will not get the big name players or managers so wake up and support what we have got before we lose them and this time we might not survive like last time.
