Notts booked a third round place in the carling cup with a fine away win at premiership middlesborough. Notts who rested most of the first team went through thanks to a N`Toya goal on 26 minutes. Middlesborough piled on the pressure late on but could not beat a inform Saul Deeney.

Notts County 3-2 A Stanley . (09/09/2006)

Notts got back to winning ways this afternoon with a fine home win against Accrington Stanley. In a first half performance to be remembered for many a season goals from Edwards on 11 minutes and two from Martin on 29 and 36 minutes gave the magpies a comfortable lead. Notts gave away two goals both on the 90th minute one a penalty from Roberts and then Mullin scored. In a game that Notts dominated anyone looking at the score line will think this was a close match.
