Notts manager shocked the fans with none of the three new boys on a one-month loan period starting in the first eleven.
The two Charlton players did make the bench with N`Toya, coming in for the departed Mendes, up front.
Notts never got going in this match in the first 15 minutes and it was either good goal keeping or poor finishing that kept the score level.
Notts started to get back into the match and thought they should have had a free kick in the 6 yard box, a back pass was handled by the Rovers keeper but the ref only gave a
corner to the amazement of the Notts players.
Both teams had chances but the score at half time was 0-0
The second half began with Rovers pressure and on 52 minutes they got the lead they deserved when Nicholson scored.
On 72 minutes the same player tried along range effort, which flew into the back of the net and giving the home, side all 3 points.
This defeat leaves the magpies 15th in league 2, the same position has this time last year last year when the magpies were dragged into a relegation fight.
