Full Report
Notts new boy Ryan Jarvis went straight into the starting eleven with Felix Bastians missing from the squad.
This would have been Bastians last match and everyone was hoping that he would extend it but other clubs are reported to be looking at the Forest player so he was left out of the squad and maybe we will see what happens next week.
It was Grimsby that started well and only first good defending from Canoville on the goal line to clear and then Pilkington to save the rebound kept the scores level.
It was Pilkington that was called into action again after North beat the off-side trap (He looked 3 yards off side) but he could not beat the in form Pilkington who saved well in this one on one duel.
Danny North who www.youpies.co.uk thought would be Grimsby Towns key man was yet again to be denied by Pilkington, when the ball was crossed over North headed towards goal but the Notts keeper saved well.
Notts did try in the first half but did not have the opportunities like their opponents had.
Notts best chance of the half fell to Edwards but the Notts defender blasted over the bar when maybe he should of scored.
Half time: Notts County 0-0 Grimsby Town
Notts did start the second half better than the first and new boy Ryan Jarvis had a fantastic opportunity to open his account for the magpies.
The ball fell to the loan player after some fine pressure work from the Notts players and with only the keeper to beat he took his chance going wide of the goal but like other strikers before him this season he failed to score with the ball hitting the keeper and two Grimsby players just cleared before the on rushing Butcher added to his nine goals this season.
Notts top scorer Richard Butcher did get his tally into double figures this afternoon.
Fine work from Lee and then Jarvis setup the midfield player and he made no mistake with a fine low hard shot that put the magpies in front.
The joy was only to last for two minutes because Notts old boy Nick Fenton was to score for Grimsby.
Grimsby player Boshell was to find the former magpie in the penalty area and he made no mistake beating the in form Pilkington to level the scores.
Both teams did try to go for a win and it was one of the Notts subs that could have won it for the magpies.
The ball was played over to the 6 yard box and Weston out jumped the Grimsby defence but only to put his header over the bar.
Silk also had a half chance but when the ball was played low into the area the Notts player totally missed his kick.
This was a good match and Notts held out for a point against a good inform team in Grimsby.
They now have to carry this run going into the next few matches
Full time: Notts County 1-1 Grimsby Town
