Full Report

Darlington started the better of the two team and Notts were lucky to survive when McBride’s shot was turned onto the post but Notts keeper Pilkington and Tommy Wright who is not a favourite of the Notts fans followed up to but Pilkington throw himself on the ball and Notts survived.

Moments later Notts had their hearts in their mouths again as Tann put the ball against his own bar and Abbott knocked the rebound in but the referee spotted an infringement for what looked like handball and the striker was booked.

Darlington did take the lead when on 40 minutes Wright scored after some fine work from Abbott.

Notts only major effort on goal was a shot from Mackenzie from the edge of the box.

The referee blew for half time and Notts went off the field to boo’s from the travelling fans.

Notts were a different team in the second half and this was down to substitute Andy Parkinson who came on for Weir-Daley on 59 minutes.

Notts were taking control of the match now and a Mayo free kick led to chance for Smith who shot just off target.

Notts levelled matters on 72 minutes when Butcher finished off a fine Notts move especially from Substitute Parkinson.

It looked on 86 minutes that Notts had thrown away a good away point when Miller scored to give the table toppers a 2-1 lead.

Notts now pinned the home side in their own half and in the final minute of the 4 added Butcher scored and sent the travelling Notts fans into ecstasy and give the magpies a well deserved point after a fine second half display.
