Match Report
The first half was one that only a few chances were created.
After fine work from Dudfield his cross was blocked and fell to the same player who blasted over from the corner of the 6-yard box.
Lee had a header saved by the opposition keeper.
Pilkington was never really in the action but when a low cross came in he was brave and claimed the ball.
The match was manly a kick and rush game with not many chances created.
When Canoville collided and went down with a head injury the ref carried on and when the cross came in a Dagenham & Redbridge player brought down mayo but only got a talking too.
When the ref blew for half time boos rang around the lane and this bought a reaction from Pilkington who tried to get the fans to get behind the team.
Notts County 0-0 Dagenham & Redbridge
The second half started with Notts keeping the ball on the ground and a flick on by Lee created a chance for Spencer but the keeper saved his shot.
Notts were now playing some good football and another chance felt Spencer but this time the Notts striker hit the post with a fine shot.
Notts had a chance cleared off the line from a corner the fans appealed that the ball went over but the ref was having none of it.
The fans were now getting restless it seems everything was not going right amd you could see the players were sensing this.
A big cloud was lifted on 83 minutes when some fine work from Canoville created a chance for substitute Mackenzie who scored his second goal of the season to the delight of the 3,926 fans.
Yes this was not the best a Notts side had played but the major point was that Notts got the first win of the season
Notts County 1-0 Dagenham & Redbridge
The attendance is a major concern on a warm September’s day Notts could only attract 3,926.
Etc...
