Full Report
Notts went in to this match after losing their unbeaten run to Darlington on Tuesday night.
Notts had injury problems with Gavin Strachan and Stephen Hunt out plus second keeper Tim Sandercombe was out.
Charlie had new boy Danny Crow in the squad so we was all waiting to hear the team news.
Notts made changes with Mayo who as just come back from a month at Darlington and new boy Crow starting for the magpies.
Neil MacKenzie was on the bench for the magpies.
On loan striker Danny Crow, had a great chance on 14 minutes. Myles Weston played the ball across the area who found Crow but from 6 yards out the on loan striker put his effort wide..
Weston was next to go close for the magpie. Weston ran at the Chester defence and from the edge of the area he sent a shot towards goal which the keeper could only parry, but when Notts top scorer Richard Butcher was about to knock the rebound in some fantastic defending from Wilson stopped the Notts player adding to his 10 goals this season.
Chester almost scored when former Notts player Craig Lindfield sent over a cross which hit the top of the cross bar.
Half time: Chester City 0-0 Notts County
Notts started the second half by almost giving the home side a goal.
The ball fell to Mike Edwards who volleyed the ball towards his own goal from what I could see was about 30 yards out if not more.
The ball bounced towards goal beating the Notts keeper Pilkington but just missing the goal to the relief of the Notts player.
Notts went in front on 69 minutes from new boy Danny Crow.
The ball fell to Jay Smith in the center of the pitch and when he kicked the ball, it went of the side of his boot going out towards the wing.
The ball fell to Gibb who put in a fantastic cross for Crow to put his header wide of the keeper and give Notts the lead.
The player ran over towards the jubilant fans and was lucky not to get booked for celebrating with the fans.
Chester piled the pressure on, but apart from a header straight at Pilkington late on the Notts defence held out for 3 points.
The game was not the best match to watch, most of the time the ball was in the air but it was 3 points now they must carry it on to Rochdale on Tuesday night.
Full time: Chester City 0-1 Notts County
