Notts manager Gudjon Thordarson had to make changes with the departure of Kelvin Wilson so Edwards went form Midfield to partner Baudet in defence. In a bright start Notts scored on 5 minutes when a cross from Pipe was turned in for his second goal in two games by Chillingworth. The rest of the half Notts had to soak up a lot of pressure and with slid defending Notts got to half time with a lead.

Notts created a good chance early in the second half and when Palmer one of the scorers against Mansfield the week before was given the room to shoot he shot over. Rovers bounced back when Haldane scored on 53 minutes. On 74 minutes Subsitute Steve Scoffham Gave Notts a 2-1 lead when the striker scored his third league goal of the season to the delight of the 202 fans that have travelled form Nottingham. Doyle went close with a fine shot on 82 minutes. Bristol Rovers put pressure on the Notts defence and with the 90 minutes up Hunt wasted a fine chance for Bristol Rovers and Notts held on for a very good away win.
