Notts went to Field mill Top of the table and unbeaten in the league and came back with 3 points. Notts fell behind when Barker scored after 15 minutes but 3 minutes later Hurst made the score 1-1. The next goal came on the hour when Jellyman scored to give Mansfield a 2-1 lead which lasted till the 82nd minute when Edwards scored his first of the season and then on 87 minutes Hurst got his 4th of the season and gave Notts victory in this local derby in front of 6,444

Notts County went top of the league with a 2-0 victory over Bristol Rovers. Notts went ahead after recalled striker Glynn Hurst scored his first of the season after 52 seconds. Notts dominated most of the match but had to wait till the 79th minute when Hurst got his and Notts second. Notts went out of the Carling cup at Vicarage Road to championship Watford. Watford went in front after 13 minutes when Young scored. Baudet fouled Young on 34 minutes to give away a penalty which Bouazza put away as the home lead 2-0 at half time. The second half was only 3 minutes old when Blizzard scored to make the score 3-0. Notts County continued the impressive start to the season with a fine win over Lincoln at Meadow Lane. Lincoln surprised Notts after 20 Minutes with a well taken goal on the volley from Brown after 20 minutes this was the first goal Notts had let in this season meaning every football league club had now let in at least 1 goal. As the game went on Notts started to look the better team and after 40 Minutes Steve Scoffham grabbed his first goal of the season. Notts only had to wait another 16 minutes before French man Julien Baudet got the winner from a free kick and lifting Notts into 3rd position in front of 6,153 fans on a very wet afternoon

Non-contract pair Jake Sheridan and Stacey Long have both signed permanent deals with the Club. Stacey Long who scored the 90th minute winner against Wrexham in midweek and Jake Sheridan have both signed 1 year contracts at the club .

Notts County boss Gudjon Thordarson as today told duo Tony Scully and Matty Williams that they can Leave. Scully and Williams have been told that they do not fit into Gudjon`s plans and can leave the club to find first team football elsewhere.

Well it is the first game of the season and Notts had not won a opening day game in 5 years. Torquay was the opposition and Notts won there on the opening day 3-1 in the 48/49 season.Notts who included four of the summer signings went into this match playing a 4 4 2.
